Claudia Spencer
Treasurer
My Story
Although Claudia has a soul connection to music, her work background was primarily in public accounting. She spent 38 years with BDO, LLP, retiring as a full-time audit partner in 2015. During the following decade, she consulted for BDO, smaller public accounting firms, two consulting firms and directly to clients on a variety of topics, including accounting and auditing issues, SEC and IPO problems, complex debt and equity questions, and revenue recognition matters. Thankfully, for the last few years, her only paid work has been singing for weddings and funerals!

Claudia spent a number of years in musical theatre during high school and college, and sang with choirs and other groups over the years. She has sung in the choir of, and has been a cantor for, St. Joseph’s Basilica in Alameda, California since 1997. She regularly volunteers at the Milo Shelter in Point Richmond (mostly dog walking and laundry, which for some reason many of the other volunteers steer clear of!), and has been on the Finance Council of St. Joseph’s since 2020.

Claudia is primarily a singer, and has been working on regaining some of her childhood piano skills in order to accompany herself. She is also a newbie composer, although much of her work in that vein lies in rearranging existing music to better suit her voice.
